Lead Data Platform

As the Lead Data Platform, you lead the development of de Bijenkorf’s data platform infrastructure. You oversee data ingestion, storage, processing, and access, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. You play a critical role in building and improving a robust centralized modern data platform that powers self-service analytics, operational reporting, advanced data products and Machine Learning.

Our main technologies are: GCP: BigQuery, Airflow (cloud composer), dbt, Tableau.

De Bijenkorf is looking for a technical lead for our Data Platform team, who takes the lead in shaping our future data infrastructure and works side-by-side with the team to make it happen.

Your main responsibilities:

• Evolve the data platform
  Define and execute the roadmap for a data platform that enables reliable data usage and decision making across the company.

• Lead the data platform team
  You lead the data platform team (3-4 FTE), and work with them to deliver project goals. You turn long term goals into actionable deliverable plans. While guiding the team, you also stay hands-on contributing to projects directly.

• Data modeling and quality
  Drive data quality, governance and standardization within the rest of the data team. Take a leading role in improving our data quality and usability. e.g. trough standardization, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines enforcing standards.

 Your team

This role is part of the Data & Analytics team, which includes Data Engineering, Tracking & Measurement, Data Science, Analytics Engineering, and Data Analysis. You will be part of a centralized data team that supports the entire organization, working with a wide variety of data types and use cases. You report to the Head of Data & Analytics.

What you will do

• You further improve our platform for our data ambitions, from reporting, self-service to machine learning. Leading the technical vision for our data platform.
• Manage a small team of specialists: Defining professional standards, work methodologies and (technical) standards within the team. The team consists of Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, and Technical Web Analytics.
• Designing and implementing robust data pipelines (ELT) for ingesting large volumes of data from various sources.
• Translating business logic into well-documented, coded data models, ensuring a consistent and reliable source of truth for reporting and analytics.
• Implementing and enforcing data governance policies, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance with regulations.
• Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the data platform, ensuring reliability and managing costs.
• Working closely with other teams, such as software engineering, infrastructure, product, and business teams, to understand their data needs and provide effective data solutions.
• You stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in data and analytics, pitching suggestions for improvements.
