About the position of Site Reliability Engineer

As a Site Reliability Engineer at de Bijenkorf you will play a crucial role in keeping our environment up and running and healthy.

You'll be challenged to participate in building services that are resilient, effectively monitored, alerting and self-healing by applying best practices.

You'll be cooperating closely with cross-functional product development teams, helping and guiding them so the code can be delivered faster and more transparently.

We are looking for someone who has the desire to push the technical boundaries of what is possible within the online domain and deliver the best possible experience to our customers. Affinity with retail is a plus, and the motivation to drive the Bijenkorf to the forefront of online retail is a must.

Your main responsibilities

  • Design and develop software tools to reliably manage application delivery;
  • Improve the predictability and reliability of software releases with the implementation of automated build, test and deployment tools and processes;
  • Engage with Software Engineering to improve application stability with the design, development and implementation of application monitors and alerts;
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.

Desired skills and experience

  • Experienced with container technologies (Docker) and container orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes);
  • Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, GCP);
  • Experience with agile development, continuous integration and automated testing;
  • Experience with Java build tools such as Ant, Maven, Gant, or Gradle;
  • Passionate about CI/CD concepts, quality oriented with ongoing aspiration for improvement.

At the headquarters of the Bijenkorf, our E-commerce organization is the youngest and fastest growing part of our company. A passionate, multinational group of more than 100 men and women work together on the continuous growth and development of our digital platform.

The E-commerce organization is responsible for the execution of omnichannel projects and the support of various internal departments. Projects include (but are not limited to) the continued development of the (mobile) webshop, CMS, various content channels, multichannel applications and e-commerce platform.

Our current technology consists of JAVA 8, Springboot, SOA, Docker, AEM, CI/CD. And the coming year we will be focusing on machine learning, personalization and image recognition.

About the Service Center

Since January 2010, the Service Office of the Bijenkorf has been located in the Atlas-complex on the Hoogoorddreef in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. More than 400 enthusiastic colleagues work here, which brings a wide variety of specialisations together, all geared towards delivering a complete service to our affiliates.
