At de Bijenkorf Ecommerce department we work in scrum teams. You will be the designer in a multidisciplinary squad focusing on Apps design and development, responsible for ensuring best user experience throughout the entire customer journey.

About the position of Product Designer Mobile App

We might be best known for our department stores, but did you know that De Bijenkorf is also one of the biggest online fashion and lifestyle retailers in the Netherlands? Our in-house design and development team continuously strives to offer the best user experience through our websites and apps, for which we are highly recognized. To set our standards even higher, we are looking for a Mobile Apps Designer to strengthen our UX team.

The impact that you'll have

In your role, you will work in close collaboration with the PO, devs and other stakeholders in setting the strategic direction for the product, turn chaos into patterns using quantitative and qualitative insights and create both meaningful and beautiful interfaces to enable our customers in achieving their goals on our apps. As our Mobile Apps designer, you should feel confident in:

  • Facing complicated interaction problems and coming up with simple, usable and creative solutions, based on data (both quan and qual), input from business stakeholders and relevant UX trends;
  • Producing concepts and prototypes in a fast-paced environment while knowing when to drill down on detail or pull back for more high-level ideation;
  • Confidently selling your ideas to stakeholders with different points of view;
  • Advocating for the user, while at the same time being open to suggestions from your team;
  • Working on two horizons: keeping your eye on the long-term vision while also managing to fix the unhappy flows;
  • Translating our in-store premium shopping experience to the digital world.

Who we are looking for

We would love to hear from you if you believe you would be a great fit for our driven team and if you recognize yourself in the following qualities:

  • You have significant amount of experience in UI/UX with a solid portfolio showcasing App designs;
  • Your toolbelt consists of strong knowledge of user-centered design practices, detailed interaction design, rapid ideation tools, and agile process;
  • You consider yourself a pro in Figma, Zeroheight and can use prototyping tools;
  • You are fluent in English, but have an understanding of the Dutch language;
  • You have no difficulty in convincing others in your ideas using excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with storytelling skills;
  • You feel confident in handover between design and development and open to new ways of working;
  • You have good communication skills with developers when performing visual QA;
  • Bonus points for past work on e-commerce websites and apps.
